ABOUT MIS

We are on a mission to deliver hyper local intelligence on a global scale. Backed by private investment, we operate from a HQ in London and regional offices across the UK and USA.

The journey to date

As geospatial data and analysis partners to the Lloyd’s of London insurance marketplace, MIS has delivered intelligence against over 120 truly global events with market exposures totalling over £10bn. Using aerial and satellite imagery, ground and space based data and human expertise, we have delivered actionable intelligence against events ranging from hurricanes, wildfires, floods and earthquakes to terrorism, industrial accidents and geopolitics, always meeting tight deadlines to support our clients on their mission to service policyholders quickly and cost effectively.

Traditional methods of catastrophe response and management rely on historic data to model outcomes and means decisions need to be made with no insight from the ground.
MIS first partnered with Lloyd’s in 2015 to develop a solution to improve catastrophe response, following a number of successful expert witness investigatve projects and depositions with brokers and insurers which established our credentials. Since then, the award winning MIS Intel service has proven invaluable to a diverse user base at the world’s leading insurance brands.

Exposure management teams are able to set initial reserves with 93% more accuracy. Following Hurricane Laura this resulted in $100m less working capital being reserved by one insurer alone.
Claims teams have relied on imagery and our expert analysis to pay claims with no inspection on the ground. We know that using our intelligence to enable effective triage can reduce cycle times up to 40% and deliver up to 2% improvement in expense ratio.

Our vision does not stop there, and with support from the European Space Agency, MIS are developing the next generation of intelligence software. Our Global Events Observer ‘GEO’ will automate the collection, storage and analysis of a huge number of space and ground-based data sources, delivering radical transformation across the life of a risk.

From underwriters looking to understand the hazards a new risk might be exposed to so that they can price accurately, to risk engineers helping their clients to mitigate their risks and costs by developing early warnings, to claims teams leveraging customer service gains from near real time intelligence about exposure to events, GEO will deliver best in class actionable intelligence. Client service will be super charged and a cultural shift to data enabled decision making at unprecedented scale will lead to the automation of processes at every step of a risk’s lifecycle.
