Front End Developer

 

Salary: £40k – £55k DOE

Reports to: 

Lead Developer

Location:

Dev office in Bournemouth (hybrid). Some overseas travel may be required.


Job Description:

First impressions are crucial. The web team own McKenzie Intelligence Services data platform and public website, and are responsible for a lot of people’s first impressions of the brand. Their job is to create fresh, immersive and captivating experiences that communicate our data to our clients. To engage users no matter who they are or what they need from us.

We’ve built an awesome platform but need to grow our team and add more skillsets in order to achieve our vision: one that is visually stunning, performant, accessible and technically correct at every level. We have a long way to go, so we need your help to build the culture of collaboration, continual improvement and engineering excellence that will get us there.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Frontend Developer with experience programming with Typescript and React, and who understands the importance of unit-testing their code. We are looking for someone who worked with or has taken an interest in Typescript and has experience integrating with the backend, whether with REST or another specification.

You’ll need a sharp eye for good user-interface design and a passion for working with stakeholders to achieve the look and feel they want! But most importantly you’ll need to be someone who is a good team player and keen to contribute and to learn.

Areas of Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all tasks are completed as planned and executed to the highest level of quality and efficiency
  • Be an active contributor to the team – attend brainstorms, contribute to the discussions and share ideas
  • Work collaboratively with the Product and Intelligence teams. Ensure all new UX / Design brief is fully understood, technically assessed and signed-off for your project before development
  • Provide accurate estimates on requirements
  • Produce clean, efficient, tested code
Skill Sets and Experience:
Essential Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years commercial experience
  • Razor-sharp frontend skills
  • An advocate for clean, well-tested, maintainable code

  • Portfolio containing at least one project in one of the essential languages.
  • Able to professionally communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
